Penicillin G belongs to group of medicines called penicillin beta-lactam antibiotics. It kills the bacteria by interrupting the bacterial cell wall (outer coating of bacteria) formation. As a result, the bacterial cell wall is weakened and ruptures, thereby killing the bacteria.

Penicillin G potassium is a natural penicillin and is available in the market under various brand names and dosage forms to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. Penicillin-G is bactericidal in nature against susceptible microbes like Neisseria Gonorrhea, Corynebacterium diphtheria, Bacillus anthracis, clostridia, and Actinomyces species.
